Community Residential Facility (CRF)
In 1901, The Salvation Army recommended to the federal government that a prisoner probation system be adopted, leading to Canada’s first parole program. Since that time, The Salvation Army has worked in partnership with the federal government to build a safer and more respectful community in the city of Victoria. Studies are conclusive that when offenders leave the correctional institutions that they have been sentenced to, their chances of safely reintegrating into the community are enhanced by participation in a community-based residential facility (CRF). The Salvation Army's CRF has 47+ beds set aside for men aged 19-75 who are in need of such help. Professional counselors and social workers give advice, life skills, and supervision to men as they prepare for a second chance at life.
