Recovery Program

The ARC Recovery Program provides long-term, recovery-oriented residential substance use programming in a community-based, supportive environment. It aims to support individuals experiencing substance use or mental health concerns to reclaim their lives and lead empowered, fulfilling lives.

We believe recovery is a personal and holistic journey that embraces the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and community. Our program provides participants with the skills they need to build on their strengths and move toward greater stability, purpose, connection, and independence. We recognize that every person’s recovery journey is unique because every person is unique, and that lasting change is made possible through hope, self-determination, and relationships that help people thrive.

The program is structured in three distinct phases:

  • Phase 1: Stabilization and Engagement

The first phase focuses on creating the ideal conditions for recovery without overwhelming participants. Participants are given time to adjust to a new therapeutic environment where they work with a caseworker, establish routines, build trust, and identify their immediate needs and priorities.

  • Phase 2: Skills for Recovery

This is the program’s high-intensity phase, with a focus on structured group work, curriculum-based learning, and the development of practical skills for recovery. Participants explore and develop individualized relapse prevention plans to help them navigate triggers and reinforce positive change.

  • Phase 3: Transition Planning

This phase focuses on preparing participants for life beyond the program. Participants work toward achieving longer-term goals, strengthening connections with community supports, and developing practical plans for further developing their skills and sustaining their progress.

The ARC Recovery Program philosophy is informed by the Community Reinforcement Approach:

The Community Reinforcement Approach is a well-researched approach to addiction treatment that emphasizes positively reinforcing sobriety by encouraging clients to connect with their community and participate in activities that meet their needs without the use of substances.

The program structure, therefore, combines group work, volunteerism, and skills-based work in the mornings with community outings and activities in the afternoons.
